Blue rose petals fall
Upon unresisting snow
In Remembrance

The Fallen have won
Now laying in shallow stone
Victorious peace

Hmm, I like this one.. is it referring to fallen soldiers when it mentions "the fallen have won"?

You know... the poem took on a life of its own. I intended to spot after the first Haiku, but the second part kinda demanded to be written. So I wasn't really sure when I read your comment last night. I had to think about what it was I wanted others to get from it. And I remembered the Police officer we saw in the store yesterday, and how nice he was to Kayden. So the poem is not only to those who have fallen in wars, but also to those officers and others who put their lives on the line for us to have peace, and stay safe. To those KIAs :ahoy:

Ah, that's understandable owo

Half of it reminded me of my late grandfather (mom's side), he was a veteran. And also he preferred blue roses to red ones.

I love blue roses, always have. I'm not even sure why, but they have such a cold beauty to them.

Funny, that. Which war was he in? My Grandpa's on both sides are/were war veterans. My mum's dad was in the Korean, and my bio father was in WW2. He was a photographer, and was actually at Pearl Harbor during the Dec 7th attack. I always felt a bit cheated knowing he was there, and yet I could never pick his brain about it. :hmm:

I'm not sure if he was on the Korean one or just WW2 (I did recall my mom mentioning that he was in Germany for some time). And my dad's father went to Korea. So it could be either one. Sadly they are no longer amongst us for me to ask them about it.

Aww.. that's too bad. My mum's dad is still around, and I'm quite close with him. But my er..dad's dad didn't want to have anything to do with my mum or us kids, so I have no idea if he's still around or not. It's sad to miss out on a wealth of history like that.
