Her hands never lift up high Folded primly in her lap Just as she was taught to do With the stinging ruler's slap. Lowly she will hum a tune Off key and far too slow With dry lips of speckled red Bitten 'til the blood will flow. He lingers every Monday noon Watching at her strange physique An unwilling prisoner kept Her case they call 'unique.' When she whispers quietly Broken silence raises alarm. He can only hold her hands To keep her from more harm. And as her mind turns back again The past becomes more clear. A smile lingers on her mouth The shadow she'll not fear. Blanked eyes staring outside Waiting for the snow She is always silent now Her world she does not know. He will stand beside her A tall and lonely man Hoping for the day she sees And remembers what they plan.     |
 Writers are truly the gems of the world. Without them, we wouldn't have the wealth that inspires many an artist. So, each week I will feature jewels I have found from around the communities. You might know some of them, others are in need of more exposure. All of them have something to say. This week's highlights are from the wonderful minds writing Short Stories. Every day around 3:00 pm the robot would sit by the window look down at the street to watch him walk home from work. His name was Calvin Turning and he worked a few blocks down at Sync Co. It was a private company that tuned up, fixed, and built computers. Maybe that is why the robot loved him. (I just happened to pick up this knowledge from around the apartment building. It's not like I went out of my way to ask or anything like that.) ~butterfli1473girl Rescue [link] 'I can't do it anymore. I'm too tired, too cold, too uncaring. I'll just find some place out of the way to die. Wow, that's a depressing thought.' Alice curls up under a cardboard box in a trash-filled alley. Her ears lay forward and her tail curls around her bare feet. Her clothes, which are the wrong size and falling apart, barely hold in the heat against the November chill. Alice falls asleep shivering. The feel of her world tilting wakes her. Her cat instincts urge her to jump away from the impending danger; however, they abandon her upon landing. She tumbles from the cardboard and lands in a crumpled heap on the cold ground. Emma is finally asleep, and I can have my alone time with you. Work was as busy as it usually is, we lost another patient today in the ER. That is what makes my job so difficult…but coming home to my baby girl makes everything more worthwhile. We lose lives, but we also bring so many children into the world too. |

 Each week I will be featuring a few artists that I have taken a particular shine to. Some may be well known, others, more obscure. This week highlights Black and White Photography. They hold a special place in my heart, having done some B/W shoots myself. There is something about them- the captured emotion and mood that I find colour lacks.  on the dock *anxiousart A study of innocence and fun, with a classical pose. The expressions on the one boy's face says it all.  Observational Butterfly `bQw Curiosity is a child's forte. More than that- it is their gift. And they are the eyes of observation. One must wonder what this little one is thinking.  Alone in the Grey *darkdex52 I think the pose of the man says everything. Though there is an almost defeated look about his posture, he still shows strength beyond measure. Truly a powerful shot. Please stop by their galleries and take a look!
